the Artisan
I grew up in North Carolina, an area steeped in furniture making history and traditions in the hills of Appalachian. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to create and build things. That drive and passion to build has not faded over the years, but has lead me to create my own wood working shop so that I can fulfill that dream.
My formal training began at Appalachian State University where I got a degree in Fine Furniture Construction and Design. That schooling provided me the foundational skills in machine and handwork necessary to build one of a kind heirloom quality pieces.
Since graduating I have spent the last 25 years perfecting that craft and building all types of furniture and custom architectural projects under Organic Woodworks.
Hand crafted furniture allows you to create a piece without having to compromise on design or style. Having it made by a craftsman with years of experience means you will be able to enjoy it for a lifetime, and then pass it on for another generation to love and enjoy.
Using traditional wood joinery and solid wood construction is a time honored tradition that allows for maximal creativity with endless possibilities, without compromising on quality or longevity.
Every woodworker is different and has their own style. I take my influence from the Pacific Northwest and the magnificent trees that grow here. I take great pride in making my pieces beautiful, but I also make sure they are built to stand up to everyday use. There is no greater dishonor to the wood or to the maker than to have their creation sit in the corner and collect dust.
Overall, from built-in architectural designs, to handcrafted furniture or small gifts for loved ones, fine woodworking is a great way to add that one-of-kind piece to your home. Working with Organic Woodworks can make this dream come true.
